How Does CBD Oil Decrease Inflammation In Celiac Disease very informative, I hope you do as well.
What Is Celiac Disease?
CBD oil has taken on greater interest in recent years due to its fascinating ability to attenuate and help with the treatment of various symptoms and adverse effects of chronic diseases and conditions. In the following lines we will explore how CBD oil can help reduce inflammation in the digestive system in those people intolerant to gluten, a disease known today as Celiac Disease, as well as the forms and recommendations for its use.
Celiac disease, also called gluten-sensitive enteropathy, is considered an autoimmune disorder that leads to damage of the intestinal walls when patients consume foods containing gluten (proteins found in wheat, rye, barley and other grain-based foods).
In other words, after a person with this intolerance consumes these foods, they usually experience an inflammatory reaction at the base of the intestinal mucosa, which makes it difficult, as a consequence, to absorb essential nutrients for their nutrition. It is usual for genetically predisposed individuals to develop this disease.
It is estimated that 1% (500,000 individuals) of the Spanish population are celiac and 10% of the population has a certain sensitivity to gluten.
What Does Cause This Disease?
Our immune system is responsible for the protection of our body by identifying and eliminating harmful external agents. Unfortunately, our immune system tends to be so efficient that it can identify harmless agents (gluten) as harmful external agents, thus identifying and attacking them to eliminate them. This produces inflammation in the intestinal walls typical of this disease.
The CBD Oil To The Celiac Rescue
Cannabidiol (CBD), a molecule obtained from cannabis plants better known as industrial hemp, has had great impact because of its therapeutic potential against different inflammatory diseases and even cancer. The cannabinoid receptors found in the digestive tract are responsible for capturing the CBD molecules in order to produce a metabolic cascade that helps to alleviate inflammation produced by these external agents.
It is common for celiac individuals to have anemic symptoms, calcium, iron and other proteins deficiency.
So the use of CBD can in turn help those patients with celiac disease to recover their appetite and gain weight, since their anti-inflammatory and anti-emetic function means that the nutrients in food can be absorbed more easily, reversing the symptoms previously described.
How Can You Take CBD Oil?
Today there are different ways to integrate CBD into the diet, one of the most common and recommended is the CBD oil.
This oil is recommended since its sublingual use allows the CBD to reach the bloodstream with greater speed and integrity, in this way it will not be degraded by the own acids of the intestinal tract. Allowing the CBD to act with its anti-inflammatory properties, allowing the celiac individuals to obtain the essential nutrients required for a balanced diet without the typical discomforts.
One of the most interesting studies on the use of CBD against celiac disease reports: “…these results suggest that acting through CB1 receptors, cannabinoids have therapeutic potential to reverse the disorder in intestinal permeability associated with inflammation… “
On the other hand, one of the most interesting aspects of this molecule is based on its psychotropic inactivity and not having, as of today, evidence of overdose or toxicity, unlike many other medicines and current therapies based on synthetic compounds.
Inhalation of cannabis smoke is not recommended for this purpose, since it does not contain the desired levels of CBD needed, nor can the desired dose be controlled. This plant would produce undesirable effects due to the presence of narcotics such as THC.
The CBD Oil Use Recommendations
To obtain CBD in the purest form, it is necessary to have special strains of cannabis called industrial hemp, these strains have high CBD content and minimal concentrations of THC. So obtaining CBD oil through these plants is the best way to obtain CBD in its purest form.
Among other potential uses of cannabinoids, we have its ability to palliate non-voluntary movements in Parkinson’s disease, deny the narcotic effects of psychotropic molecules, helping in the regulation of blood glucose levels, help to control adverse effects produced by chemotherapy (vomiting, weight loss, muscle pain, etc…)
The more technologically advances, the more progress is made in the investigation of these promising compounds, however, it is crucial to encourage and promote research with consistent protocols and robust methodology, in this way we can have evidence with a solid base. Currently, a large part of the cannabinoid studies is carried out in Israel, where a National Plan for Medicinal Cannabis has been created.
