Easy peasy iced tea 101

 

My easy peasy iced tea 101 will have you ready for the summer and your outdoor bbq entertaining!

The following are to make a glass or gallon of iced tea:

any flavor tea~
1. one gallon + 2 cups of water 2. Cool down and reserve 2 cups of the steeped tea.  Why you ask? Make ice cubes with them this way when you serve your  iced tea, use the flavored tea ice cubes, this way it will NOT water down the deliciousness

Type of tea/ Brewing time (per 8 fl. oz cup):
Green Teas (1 rounded tsp.): 2-3 mins. with water just under boiling point
White Teas (1 rounded tsp.): 3-5 mins. with water just under boiling point
Herbs/Herbal Teas/Red Teas (2 rounded tsp.): 5-7 mins. with boiling water
Black/Oolong Teas (1 rounded tsp.): 3-5 mins. with boiling water

Amount of Iced Tea Desired (Green, White, Black, and Oolong Teas)
1 cup (serves 1 person) = 1 rounded teaspoon
1 quart (serves 4 people) = 4 rounded teaspoons
1 gallon (serves 16 people) = 16 rounded teaspoons (or 1/3 cup)
For each additional gallon, add 16 rounded teaspoons (or 1/3 cup)

Amount of Iced Tea Desired (Herbal Teas)
1 cup (serves 1 person) = 2 rounded teaspoons
1 quart (serves 4 people) = 8 rounded teaspoons
1 gallon (serves 16 people) = 32 rounded teaspoons (or 2/3 cup)
For each additional gallon, add 32 rounded teaspoons (or 2/3 cup)

  • Garnish with your favorite herb or fruit
  • sweeten to taste if needed

FYI ~ making  iced coffee, use the same method of iced cubes with your left over morning coffee!
